On 17 June, MaaS Alliance hosted the annual General Assembly as a virtual meeting due to the current health restrictions. The event was a fantastic opportunity to reflect on the past year and to look ahead presenting future activities.
MaaS Alliance was pleased to welcome Daniel Mes, Member of the Cabinet of Executive VP Frans Timmermans, who presented the European Commission thoughts and vision of smart and sustainable MaaS along with the European Green Deal. He highlighted that collaboration is central to build a trusted MaaS ecosystem. He also discussed the 25 years anniversary of mobility as a service and by reflecting on the past European framework, technology today is no longer an issue, but a challenge. He shared the thoughts to dare to think big, create a large vision for a transport system that connect all modes, but first to learn from cities that will allow us to strive for a multimodal system.
Following Mr Mes opening, MaaS Alliance President Jacob Bangsgaard gave an overview of the activities in 2020 with a focus on the growth and direction MaaS Alliance has set. Since the first initial creation of MaaS Alliance in 2014, the engagement of stakeholders has continued to increase; this year, MaaS Alliance is turning five years with more than 100 members.
MaaS Alliance also welcomed keynote speaker Eric-Mark Huitema, Director General of ACEA, who presented the opportunities of MaaS enabling new freedom of movement, including the mobility transformation and future vision for an expansion of the mobility ecosystems.
Additional advancements of the MaaS Alliance were presented by some members of the Board of Directors and the respective leaders of the working groups shared the most recent updates of their work.
The meeting concluded with a discussion of upcoming plans and strategies for future engagement of Members in the Alliance activities.
The presentations and minutes will be made available to MaaS Alliance Members on Sharepoint.
