The dialogue on the Right to Travel continues with global webinar

The conversation initiated at MaaS/MoD Forum the ITS World Congress in Dubai in September has continued with an engaging online webinar focused on the “Right to Travel.” The session, organised by Roelof Hellemans, Secretary General of MaaS Alliance and moderated by Susan Harris (CEO of ITS Australia), featured a distinguished panel comprising Nico Largo (Professor at the University of Oregon and Director of Urbanism Next Center), Tilly Chang (Executive Director of the San Francisco County Transportation Authority), and Mike Rudge (Director NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi and Former Chair & President ITS New Zealand). These experts brought unique perspectives from different sectors and global regions, offering valuable insights into the future of mobility.

The webinar delved into key topics such as accessibility and how it is being tackled worldwide, exploring current policies and envisioning the future of inclusive transportation systems. The panellists also discussed the power of technology, data, and standards in driving the transformation of transit services to meet the needs of all travellers.

A major highlight was the conversation around the trials and pilots of mobility on demand and other emerging mobility services, with a focus on moving from research to deployment. The panel examined the economic viability of these services, stressing the critical need for collaboration and alignment of goals between the public and private sectors to co-create effective mobility solutions. The importance of building trust and having the right APIs for seamless integration was also emphasised.
