18 February 2020 – Today during the Plenary meeting in Antwerp, Piia Karjalainen was appointed Secretary General of the MaaS Alliance, the global public-private partnership for Mobility as a Service (MaaS) based in Brussels. She brings 15 years of experience in the mobility sector with a focus on strategic planning, transport, climate and energy policies, and EU regulations. Before joining ERTICO as Senior Manager for the MaaS Alliance, she worked for the European Parliament and the Finnish Ministry of Transport and Communications.

She started working at the MaaS Alliance in 2017 setting the basis and the strategy that brought the organisation to the current leading role within the industry.

As Secretary General, Piia will ensure the global growth of the Alliance, building the real-life conditions for thriving Mobility as a Service ecosystem as well as continuing to be the voice of the Alliance members for the successful implementation and take-up of MaaS in Europe and beyond.
